Teamsters Local 786 is located in Chicago, IL and represents workers in the Ready Mix, Construction and Building Materials industries in the Chicagoland area. The Executive Board reviewed the record of Vice president Harris and Governor Walz and determined:
- Vice President Harris played a critical role in passing legislation rebuilding our crumbling infrastructure which created thousands of good paying Union jobs.
- Vice President Harris saved the pensions of more than 1 million Teamsters retirees
- Vice President Harris pledged to increase the affordable childcare tax credit
- Vice President Harris pledged to reduce prescription drug costs for all Americans
- Vice President Harris was an advocate in the Senate for labor by supporting the Right to Organize Act which protects workers’ rights to organize.
- Vice President Harris walked the picket line with striking workers
Governor Tim Walz has a history of supporting labor unions by expanding protections for workers, like the Right to Organize Act and a Minnesota law that bans employers from forcing workers to attend anti-labor meetings.
Our endorsement is about choosing leaders who will fight for union middle-class workers and their families. Vice President Harris and Governor Walz are the leaders who have proven that they understand the fight that union workers face against corporate greed. We encourage all Local 786 members to register to vote and cast the ballots for Vice President Harris and Governor Walz.
